Narragansett Factory Litho
This New England factory scene lithograph is somewhat unique due to the overlay of the large script lettering and the use of sepia tone coloration. The combination of the bold advertising script and the incredibly detailed factory buildings provide one of the more striking and fascinating breweriana images. It has all the classic elements of a factory scene including horse drawn wagons, train-cars with “Narragansett Brewing” panels, multiple brewery buildings, and of course… American flags! 1898 date is based on the copyright, the lithographer operating dates & the history of the brewery. It retains its “wavy glass” and original frame which provides a gorgeous patina.
Condition is outstanding with no tears, creases or image discoloration. There is light staining around the borders, which may be a result of the sepia tone process. The lithograph was cleaned and conserved by Joel Oppenheimer, Inc. No restoration. No re-pigmentation. The overall presentation is remarkable, resulting from the initial design and the subsequent care and preservation over nearly 120 years.
